We are a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, redeeming and restoring horses that have often been rescued from situations of abuse, neglect and even impending slaughter.

They launched the non-profit arm of Loco Bonita Ranch officially in 2009.
8-year-old gelding who was rescued from a kill pen in Arkansas. He has been and continues to be an amazing addition to the Ranch With his kind eye, sassy ride and mischievous personality, he is a Ranch favorite. His special need is treats.
Aggie – 12-year-old American Quarter Horse mare. She may be small, but she is mighty. Her career included working cattle and being used on Texas ranches. She is Hoss’s mom.
12-year-old gelding came to the Ranch by donation, directly from a horse auction. He is very stoic and noble. He is all business. Don’t let his intimidating manor fool you, he is super kind and a joy to ride. We love Asa!
7-year-old Arabian cross gelding. He came to the Ranch from a kill pen in Oklahoma with help from various donors. He has special needs and requires dietary supplements due to gastric issues. He is a “hard keeper” and requires additional support.
9-year-old American Quarter Horse gelding. He is such a treat. He too was purchased from auction. He is our Breyer horse. He needs to be shod every six weeks.
9-year-old registered American Paint Horse mare. This girl had a career as a Team Penning/ Cattle Sorting horse. s caused her to no longer able to compete. Due to her condition, he wears special shoes that need to be reset every six weeks. She is loved by many.
24-year-old royally bred American Quarter Horse mare who too was rescued from a kill pen in Oklahoma. She loves to be brushed.
17-year-old registered American Paint Horse gelding. Years ago, his parents lived at LBR. He is super sweet and beautiful. His is quite a looker for sure.
15-year-old mustang-type gelding. He was purchased from an auction. He is handful but rides well once under saddle.
2-year-old American Quarter Horse gelding. His contribution to LBR, so far, has been to be the baby. He is exceptionally smart and beautiful. He has a bright future of loving lots of people.
20-year-old miniature horse who is as wide as he is tall. He is and has been our Ranch greeter. He was donated many years ago and has been the center of attention on many, many occasions.
6-year-old Thoroughbred gelding who was rescued twice from a kill pen in Oklahoma. LBR was contacted about taking him. When he arrived he was litteraly a “bag of bones.” With multiple other challenges, Legacy continues to be a super sweet guy who just wants attention and food. He too is a “hard keeper” and requires additional supplements and feed. He also needs shod every six weeks.
Approximately 20 years old. He was rescued from a kill pen in Oklahoma. He is the only “gaited” horse at LBR. He is a Ranch favorite and has spread lots of love already. He does have some special needs. He hates the rocks and needs to be shod every 6 weeks.

9-year-old American Quarter Horse. She is amazingly beautiful. She has seen some neglect in her life and has the scars to prove it. She came to LBR after her previous owner, who rescued her from a kill pen, was tragically killed in a horse accident.
20-year-old gelding who was rescued from a kill pen in Oklahoma, he was very, very sick and thin when he arrived at LBR. He is a joy to be around. He is special needs as he has no top teeth and requires additional feed to keep his weight up.
Tucker – a 14-year-old buckskin gelding who was crippled when he came to LBR. He was purchased at a horse auction by a long-time volunteer and donated immediately to the Ranch. If he had not come to LBR, he would have shipped to Mexico as others rendered him useless due to his debilitating injuries. He wears special shoes but is the favorite of many! .

The annual average upkeep of each horse is approximately $4,000/per year. This may vary a bit depending on the needs of each equine.
